My name is Kristen Schou and I am the first grade teacher at St. Mel School and I have a big heart for little learners. I graduated from Sacramento State with a B.A. in Psychology and earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential shortly after. I have a special passion for teaching reading and math—there’s nothing more rewarding than watching young minds grow in confidence and curiosity!
In my classroom, I use a differentiated teaching style to meet the unique needs of every student. I believe that all children learn differently, so I strive to create flexible, engaging lessons that support all learning styles and abilities.
My goal is to make sure every child feels seen, supported, and successful. When I’m not teaching, you can find me enjoying a good movie, playing with my kids, or spending time with my family. I feel so lucky to do what I love every day—helping students build a strong foundation for lifelong learning!
