Sacraments

Sacraments: First Communion

The Second graders at St. Mel School are given in-depth instruction in preparation for First Holy Communion which includes special evening Masses for parents and students. Students receive the First Holy Eucharist during a special liturgy which occurs on a Saturday morning in the Spring.

The Rite of Reconciliation

The preparation and reception of this sacrament is an integral part of the Second grade curriculum. A special celebratory function is held directly afterwards for students.

Reconciliation

Students in grades Three through Eight attend Reconciliation during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

Confirmation

The Eight graders at St. Mel School are given in-depth instruction in preparation to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students receive Confirmation during a special liturgy which occurs on a weekday evening in the Spring. A visiting Bishop gives this particular Sacrament to the Eight graders.
